Posted 02-Dec-2024 (EST) | Decatur, IN, USA | Full Time **Job Title:** **Industrial Engineer,** of Manufacturing Technology **FLSA Status:** Exempt **Reports to:** Vice President, of Manufacturing Technology As an **Industrial Engineer,** you will provide solutions to bridge the gap between production processes and decision makers by using computational capabilities to devise solutions and answer trade-off questions. You will be performing activities such as production operations modeling and improvements using discrete-event simulations, optimization models, facility layouts, data analysis and visualization, and line flows. Another primary function is to evaluate the value of automation in terms of increased throughput to the assembly line. **On any given day, you may be called on to:** + Gather information, perform assessments and studies with production staff, conduct production floor walkthroughs and processes mapping activities, translate production information into model data. + Develop analytics models to assess, optimize, and make predictions for various production authorities involved in the development and production of home construction both at the component, and subassembly level. + Document model results, identify emerging areas of opportunity, lead investigative and exploratory projects, and present findings to peers and senior management. + Collaborate with multi-functional teams and other specialists on large, center-level projects. + Lead facility redesign efforts including accurate capture of current state and implementation of methods to determine alternative future states. + Work on other projects to be determined by the organization's needs and individual interests. **Responsibilities** + Own the manufacturing capacity roadmap and forecast for an area(s) + Design the overall process flow and conceptual layout for the factory + Perform walk through factories and conduct and document time studies + Define capacity and cost metrics for existing and future manufacturing areas + Lead the framework to capture and forecast capital or operational expenditures against long range plan + Conduct trade-off analyses to drive key manufacturing business decisions + Quantify impact of product design and mix on throughput, performance, and utilization + Build static and dynamic models to determine line design targets and requirements. Run what-if scenarios and optimization experiments + Develop standard library of assumptions for availability, performance, and quality based on empirical data and industry standards + Identify bottlenecks and provide data driven insights on key loss contributors to enable faster production ramp **Qualifications** + B.S. in Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Research, or equivalent + 4+ years of manufacturing or relevant experience (new line launches a plus) + Experience with capacity planning and discrete event simulation software (i.e. FlexSiM, AnyLogic) + Experience with factory layout, equipment or process design using Visual Component or equivalent. + Experience with data analytics, visualization, and programming languages a plus + Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills + Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment + Ability to travel 50% of the time during critical launch phase **Physical Demands** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
