Job Title: Industrial Engineer, of Manufacturing Technology\n
FLSA Status: Exempt\n
Reports to: Vice President, of Manufacturing Technology\n
\n
As an Industrial Engineer, you will provide solutions to bridge the gap between production processes and decision makers by using computational capabilities to devise solutions and answer trade-off questions. You will be performing activities such as production operations modeling and improvements using discrete-event simulations, optimization models, facility layouts, data analysis and visualization, and line flows. Another primary function is to evaluate the value of automation in terms of increased throughput to the assembly line.\n
On any given day, you may be called on to: \n\nGather information, perform assessments and studies with production staff, conduct production floor walkthroughs and processes mapping activities, translate production information into model data.\nDevelop analytics models to assess, optimize, and make predictions for various production authorities involved in the development and production of home construction both at the component, and subassembly level.\nDocument model results, identify emerging areas of opportunity, lead investigative and exploratory projects, and present findings to peers and senior management.\nCollaborate with multi-functional teams and other specialists on large, center-level projects.\nLead facility redesign efforts including accurate capture of current state and implementation of methods to determine alternative future states.\nWork on other projects to be determined by the organization's needs and individual interests. \n\n
Responsibilities \n\nOwn the manufacturing capacity roadmap and forecast for an area(s)\nDesign the overall process flow and conceptual layout for the factory\nPerform walk through factories and conduct and document time studies\nDefine capacity and cost metrics for existing and future manufacturing areas\nLead the framework to capture and forecast capital or operational expenditures against long range plan\nConduct trade-off analyses to drive key manufacturing business decisions\nQuantify impact of product design and mix on throughput, performance, and utilization\nBuild static and dynamic models to determine line design targets and requirements. Run what-if scenarios and optimization experiments\nDevelop standard library of assumptions for availability, performance, and quality based on empirical data and industry standards\nIdentify bottlenecks and provide data driven insights on key loss contributors to enable faster production ramp\n\n
Qualifications \n\nB.S. in Industrial \/ Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Research, or equivalent\n4 years of manufacturing or relevant experience (new line launches a plus)\nExperience with capacity planning and discrete event simulation software (i.e. FlexSiM, AnyLogic)\nExperience with factory layout, equipment or process design using Visual Component or equivalent.\nExperience with data analytics, visualization, and programming languages a plus\nExceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills\nDemonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment\nAbility to travel 50% of the time during critical launch phase\n\n
