Job Title: Industrial Engineer
Job Description

The industrial engineer will be responsible for creating standard work instructions for all processes within the plant. Initially, the role will involve spending time both in the office and on the floor to learn the processes. Once familiar, the engineer will create detailed work instructions that include pictures, descriptions, key safety points, and quality points for production workers. Clear and concise communication is essential as these instructions will guide many employees. The work instructions will require approval from the design, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams. Additionally, the engineer will assist in training production teams alongside key employees to ensure adherence to standards. After completing the work instructions and training, the role will shift to lean 5S activities, coordinating kaizen events, leading kaizen teams, and documenting findings.

ResponsibilitiesCreate standard work instructions for plant processes including forming, rolling materials, cutting, press brakes, welding, abrasive shot blasting, mechanical operations, pressurizing tanks, spray applications, painting, and spray foaming.Take and incorporate pictures in work instructions.Document descriptions, key safety points, and quality points.Communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal formats.Get work instructions approved by design, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams.Assist in training production teams to follow work instructions.Conduct lean 5S activities and coordinate kaizen events.Lead kaizen teams and document findings.Essential SkillsExperience creating standard work instructions, including graphics.Engineering Degree.Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with technical understanding of processes and ergonomics.Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.Experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5S.Additional Skills & Qualifications5S experienceWork Environment

Located in the southwest corner of Michigan, the facility fabricates custom and standard pressure vessels, hot water generators, process tanks, and storage tanks under the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. The campus covers approximately 12.5 acres with 110,000 square feet of building space. The facility supplies major manufacturing corporations across the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. The role involves working closely with the Manufacturing Engineer and the Manufacturing Engineering Technician. Expect 40-45 hours per week, working with Union Shop employees but not part of the Union. Benefits include 10 days PTO, 6 standard holidays, and access to Udemy after 6 months of employment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $43.27
