JOB DESCRIPTION:

POSITION SUMMARY:                                                                                               

 

This position is responsible for designing and optimizing material flow throughout operations in plant. Must be capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams and department leaders to address concerns and issues that affect material flow, production efficiency, continuous improvement, etc. The candidate will also have exceptional interpersonal, organizational and management skills, demonstrating the ability to be an innovator and change agent.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Defines the flow of material and supply methods for each part from warehouse and other Sheppard locations to final operations plant in Hanover (Plan For Every Part). Partners with Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Corporate Logistics Engineering teams and external vendors to develop and implement solutions for optimizing material presentation to the lines and continuously reduce cost. Manages and implements new projects. Researches and benchmarks best practices in industry related to logistics and material flow. Establishes work instructions and packaging materials needed to ensure safety, quality, delivery and cost goals are achieved at the logistics and material handling side. Drives implementation of standard containerization throughout all operations. Evaluates logistics constraints and implements Lean Manufacturing techniques to improve efficiency. Partners with Quality department supporting RCA investigation and implementation of containment and corrective actions to mitigate and eliminate risk in terms of Logistics complaints from customer such as mislabeling, incorrect quantity delivered, etc. Uses problem solving methods and innovation to drive continuous improvement. Understands and adheres to current health, safety, and environmental policies (ISO14001). Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action in regard to safety, health, and environmental concerns. Promotes and drives the organization’s vision and utilization of KPS (Lean Manufacturing) methodologies. Ensures compliance with all company procedures and policies; addresses issues and lack of compliance through coaching and feedback and escalates as necessary. Understands and adheres to current company quality policies and procedures, including IATF16949.  Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action regarding product quality. Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

 

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor’s degree in engineering. At least 5 five years of experience working in Industrial Engineering or Logistics Engineering teams in a Lean Manufacturing environment. Past experience implementing KanBan systems is required. Green Belt Certification preferred. Prior experience using ERP systems is preferred. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) Experience in production/manufacturing environment  Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Value Stream Mapping, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles Knowledge of manufacturing and the lean tools to be used to improve processes Ability to work and/or lead within a team environment with cross-functional participants Ability to make decisions independently, based on overall objectives established by the Manufacturing Engineering Team Leader and Manager Ability to make and communicate intelligent recommendations to superiors Ability to communicate with all levels of management Knowledge of CAD/CAM software Ability to work non standard hours on occasion, in effort to support alternate shifts or weekends for implementation of new projects
