Industrial Engineer - Stellar Manufacturing

Stellar Manufacturing is a contract manufacturer of solid particle products and specializes in chemical processing services such as specialty tableting, compaction granulation, and granular filling.  We support the manufacturing of a variety of consumer and industrial products including water treatment chemicals, janitorial and sanitation products, agrochemicals, raw materials, and more. SUMMARY:

Uses knowledge and information gathered through observations, experience, the literature, vendors and customers to make recommendations on how to improve existing processes and equipment under the direction of the Engineering Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develops project plans to include design, resources required, timelines, budgets and scope of project. Is responsible for the successful and timely execution of the project.
• Develops and supports preventative maintenance protocols for specific equipment and systems.
• Supports maintenance activities on a daily basis by providing technical advice.
• Supports plant wide downtime goals by developing and implementing improvements.
• Negotiates maintenance or service/supply agreements in support of specific equipment or systems.
• Supports production through development of improvements to equipment, systems or processes that increase productivity, safety or product quality.
• Position is responsible for supporting plant-wide productivity, safety and quality goals in collaboration with others.
• May support Business Development activities by providing input on technical and economic feasibility of potential new processes.
• May lead outside contractors or assigned Stellar personnel in the completion of projects.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• May supervise maintenance personnel or independent contractors on specific projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Requires the ability to problem solve and draw conclusions from a wide variety of data to include instructions in mathematical or diagram form, schematics, production records, personal observation and the observations of others.
• Individual must be able to operate a PC and be acquainted with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Preferred 3D part modeling in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
Familiarity with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs is desirable. Experience with robotics is a plus.
• Requires a bachelor’s degree in an engineering field and a minimum of 3-5 years of prior work experience in a manufacturing environment. Prefer a person with a degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering. Prefer an individual with prior experience 2 designing and improving consumer packaging machines. Experience with horizontal wrappers, bottle filling equipment, drop packers, pneumatics, and tableting is a plus.
• Individual will work with or be familiar with all equipment in the facility and will operate a personal computer. In addition will operate drafting equipment, CAD programs and engineering related software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Employee will work with tools and instruments such as drill press, simple hand tools, micrometers, ohm/volt meters, welding equipment, drafting equipment and personal computers
• Frequent standing, lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crawl, and walking
• Employee must be able to work in uncomfortable positions for prolonged periods of time
• Employee must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
• Employee may be exposed to various chemicals and weather elements
• Employee must be able to wear a respirator and/or other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary to reduce exposure
• Employee must be able to work in heat and cold
