Summary You will serve as a INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE TECH of NMRTC JACKSONVILLE FL. THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT. Section 1109 of the National Defense Authorization Act Fiscal Year 2020 Public Law 116-92 amended Section 9905 of title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.) to streamline and simplify certain Department of Defense civilian Direct Hire Authorities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates directly to certain positions in the competitive service in the Department of Defense. Responsibilities You will perform sampling of potential health hazardous exposures to chemical, physical and biological stressors in a variety of workplaces. You will determine what short- and long-term samples have to be taken on subsequent days as necessary. You will provide meticulous documentation of time course events and workplace parameters which characterize the measured exposure. You will process appropriate sample data forms and forward samples to appropriate laboratory for analysis. You will measure airflow rates, patterns, and pressure differentials to assist the Industrial Hygienist in evaluating the effectiveness of exposure control measures. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience utilizing practical knowledge of industrial hygiene concepts, principles and practices applicable to the design and performance of industrial hygiene surveys and exposure monitoring. Experience identifying and evaluating occupational health hazards. Experience operating industrial hygiene test/monitoring equipment, its calibration and uses to determine levels of chemical, physical, and biological contaminants in the workplace and to asce11ain the operating parameters of industrial and specialty ventilation systems. Experience utilizing knowledge relating to the selection, theory of operation, correct utilization, calibration, servicing and maintenance of field survey and laboratory equipment.
