Introduction to BlueOval SK

Ford and SK On are investing billions in Kentucky and Tennessee including building three state-of-the art battery manufacturing facilities between the two campuses at BlueOval City in Tennessee and BlueOval SK Battery Park in Kentucky. These brand-new advanced manufacturing facilities will use Ford’s 100-years of automobile manufacturing expertise and SK On’s 30+ years of electric vehicle battery expertise to become the world’s best battery manufacturer.

The Industrial Hygienist at BlueOval SK will have a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a key member of the start-up team, launching the facility from the ground up.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Blue Oval is seeking an Industrial Hygienist.

Manages programs related to the anticipation, evaluation and control of exposures to chemicals and physical agents in the work environment. Conducts comprehensive industrial hygiene risk assessments to identify employee exposures to potentially hazardous chemicals, physical agents, and processes.Interprets results of evaluations, report conclusions, and evaluate effectiveness of control measures. In cases where exposures are not acceptable, investigate and provide recommendations for controls.Develops written standards and training materials for topics related to industrial hygiene.Communicates information/requirements to BOSK leadership and management teamsProvides subject matter expertise to support compliance with BOSK Health and Safety standardsProvides leadership to resolve IH-related issues and employee concerns in collaboration with manufacturing teamsAnalyzes data and present results in easily understood format

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

College graduate with a major in industrial hygiene, toxicology, or relevant scientific disciplineMinimum 3 years of experience as an Industrial Hygienist in a manufacturing environmentUnderstanding of toxicology, chemical exposure hazards, noise, lasers, and radiationProficient knowledge of relevant regulations and standardsAbility to anticipate, identify, assess, evaluate and control hazards associated with physical and chemical agents in the workplaceExperience with medical surveillance and related programs including respirator medical clearance, audiometry and substance-specific examinationsUnderstanding of engineering controls, including ventilationDemonstrated leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skillsHighly developed teamwork, communication, organizational skillsDemonstrated collaboration skills to work effectively with salaried and hourly personnel and build relationships with stakeholdersStrong written and verbal communication skillsOccasional travel as needed to support the business and collaboration with other vested partners

Preferred Requirements:

Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credentialMaster of Science degree in industrial hygiene or a related scienceExcellent computer skillsProject management skills and experienceExpertise in assessment and control of ergonomic hazards
