Title: Industrial Hygienist Location: Richland, WA Clearance: N/A Citizenship Requirement: US Citizenship Required Req #: 2636 Salary: $90,000 - $100,000/Yr Project Overview Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest. Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland. Selected applicant needs to be able and willing to work night shift (5:30pm to 4:00am) and weekends as needed. The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) is a limited liability corporation created by Craig Technologies National Inc. (BNI) and Amentum. WTCC is a subcontractor to BNI, the prime contractor, to deliver the construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning activities for the WTP project. Position Summary Under limited supervision, the Industrial Hygienist III is responsible for implementing and administering project industrial hygiene programs affecting employee, public safety and occupational health. Serves as a resource for line management to administer a proactive prevention program for occupational accidents and illnesses; under limited supervision performs moderately complex technical work in a wide range of industrial hygiene disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements; exhibits knowledge and applies advanced concepts, practices and procedures of industrial hygiene; develops, implements and maintains industrial hygiene programs, systems and procedures; monitors and prevents hazards and diseases that could be found in the work area; investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace; recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazards; develops and conducts employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs; provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice; may provide guidance for a team of ES&H specialists and/or support personnel. This position may require shift work to support plant operations. located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Selected applicant needs to be able and willing to work weekends as needed. Responsibilities • Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment. • This job description is not intended to include every duty, task or instruction for which an employee is responsible. Other tasks may be assigned, based on business needs and the department supervisor’s request. • Provides technical assistance to office and field operations to ensure compliance with applicable international, Federal, State, and/or Company health and safety regulations. • Conducts compliance evaluations of equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure that regulatory environmental, safety and health standards of the Company and all applicable codes are followed. • Recommends facilities and technological specifications to carry out programs that fulfill the organization's overall objectives. • Prepares and reviews technical reports, correspondence and program compliance documents. • Establishes and maintains permits as required. • Meets applicable regulatory codes and standards where required. • Develops and implements IH programs including IH processes, procedures and/or specifications. • Develops IH training programs and conducts IH training meetings as necessary. • Performs statistical analysis of IH data. • Trains and assists subordinate industrial hygienists in sampling and assessment methodologies. • Conducts and assists projects with sampling, monitoring, data interpretation and occupational health surveys to ensure compliance with established programs. • Industrial Hygienists III are expected to pursue and/or complete an ABIH Certification in Industrial Hygiene (CIH).
