Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

Simpsonville, SC

1st Shift 8am-5pm; Monday - Friday with Rotating Weekends

The Industrial Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment and systems within the facility. The successful candidate must be capable of working in confined spaces, at heights, and on systems containing hazardous materials. This position requires on-call availability and the ability to respond quickly to urgent situations.

Primary Responsibilities:

Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various mechanical systems, including pumps, compressors, piping, and boilers.

Safely operate hand tools and power tools to complete assigned tasks.

Work in confined spaces and at heights, as necessary.

Follow safety protocols when working on systems that contain hazardous materials.

Participate in the preventive maintenance (PM) program to ensure equipment reliability.

Conduct inspections of mechanical equipment, identify potential issues, and take corrective action.

Assist in the fabrication and welding of equipment as needed.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and report any equipment issues to management.

Be available for on-call duty and respond promptly to emergency situations.

Adhere to company safety policies, including lockout/tagout procedures, line breaking procedures, and hot work programs.

Read and interpret blueprints and engineered drawings.

Perform other duties as assigned.

​Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or GED.

Must be able to pass a physical examination for a respirator fit test.

Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.

Willingness to work in confined spaces, at heights, and on systems with hazardous materials.

Must have reliable transportation.

Knowledge of hand tools and power tools.

Attention to detail and strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.

Preferred Requirements:

Experience with piping systems, including modifying, cleaning, and maintaining.

Experience maintaining a preventive maintenance program.

Familiarity with various types of pumps (double diaphragm, gear, centrifugal, trash pumps).

Experience with air compressors, air dryers, and associated fittings and valves.

Boiler and cooling tower experience.

Knowledge of actuated valving systems.

Experience reading and understanding blueprints and engineered drawings.

Fabrication and welding experience.

Knowledge of or experience with lockout/tagout programs, line breaking procedures, hot work programs, working at heights, and 5S methodologies.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Strong sense of urgency to complete tasks safely and promptly.

Basic understanding of electrical systems.

Experience working in a Class 1 Division 2 environment.

Understanding of maintaining and repairing gearboxes and agitators.

Rigging experience.

Physical Environment:

Work in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Exposure to various weather conditions, hazardous materials, and confined spaces.

Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $27 - $31/hr.
