Industrial Maintenance Technician 2nd Shift

Powell is an engineer to order manufacturer of switchgear. We are seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Maintenance Technician will perform routine and preventative maintenance and repair manufacturing and fabrication equipment, including CNC Laser Cutting and CNC Turret Punch Press equipment, Robotic Welding equipment, Automated Material Handling equipment, and Automated Powder Coat Painting equipment. 2nd Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday 2:00pm-10:30pm plus OT. Extra 9% shift pay for 2nd shift!

Essential Responsibilities

Reading assembly drawings, schematics, and equipment layouts. Maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical circuits. (occasional) Maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and replacing control devices. Maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and replacing hydraulic equipment, circuits and components. Maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and replacing pneumatic systems. Must be able to look up parts from equipment drawings, schematics and parts lists. Must be able to understand our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and be able to conform to our work order procedures. Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures. Requires working with a wide variety of other job groups and involves working around traffic, heights, electricity, hydraulics, and heavy equipment including moving parts. Assisting crew members and working in a team environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Experience is Proportionate with the selected job level:

The Industrial Maintenance Tech level 1 High School Diploma or General Education Diploma; associate degree in electrical technology preferred. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an industrial maintenance role The Senior Industrial Maintenance Tech High School Diploma or General Education Diploma; associate degree in electrical technology preferred. Minimum of -3-4 years of experience in an industrial maintenance role

Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements

Must be able to efficiently and effectively use a computer, CMMS and related software related to record-keeping and machine troubleshooting/maintenance. Strong mathematical ability is essential. Must be self-driven and able to drive organizational change. Must work well in a team environment. Must be willing to learn and perform with minimal direction. Must have mechanical and electrical knowledge. Must have basic computer skills: Microsoft Suite Must be fluent in English with good written and verbal communication skills. Must have manual dexterity. Ability of strong mechanical aptitude. Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics. Ability to troubleshoot and repair low voltage (12 v DC) – high voltage (480 v AC 3 Phase) electrical systems. Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions and independent judgment calls based on the situation at hand. Ability to work long hours and weekends. Ability to operate hand and power tools, industrial machines, digital cameras, phones, scanners, tools, and controls in a safe manner. Ability to work and concentrate in a noisy environment.

Working & Environmental Conditions

Safety sensitive position in a temperature-controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities. Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) (i.e., safety shoes, hard hats, bump caps, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when required. Must be able to work from all types of ladders (step ladders, "A" frame ladders, etc.) Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color perception, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus, hand-eye coordination. Working at heights usually no higher than 20 feet in the air on an elevated structure using proper lift equipment and Fall Protection Equipment. Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs or step ladders. Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction Continuous standing and walking Able to use upper extremities frequently, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently. Must be able to meet physical lifting demand up to 50lbs. Frequent use of hand tools and power tools
