Welcome to the role of Industrial Painter I – Fabrication and Machining. In this position you will effectively utilize various hand and power tools to clean, prepare and finish industrial equipment, machinery, and structures for delivery and installation. Techniques and specifications will be determined by blueprints, work orders, data sheets, and oral instructions. Duties include the use and maintenance of related shop equipment for painting.

 

This individual will have a basic understanding of all aspects of industrial painting. This position must be flexible and willing to work extended hours as needed.

What You'll Do Safely and efficiently operate assigned equipmentRead, understand, and accurately execute work orders, product data sheets, and quality assurance (QA) standards per job requirementsPaint industrial structures according to specifications, industrial standards, work orders, and other instructions with various paint spraying equipmentLearn to mix paint components in their proper ratios per data sheetsLearn to determine how much product is needed for projectsLearn to determine proper tip size for different applications and paintsLearn to identify and communicate when additional structures are needed to safely perform dutiesAssist in erecting needed structures for projects, such as scaffolding, rigging, ladders, man and scissor lifts in a manner consistent with safety proceduresSecure work pieces to safely perform job functionsMonitor machine functions during operation to maintain safety standardsLearn the quality checks and devices needed to ensure parts/pieces meet tolerance requirementsLearn proper procedures for when defective parts are discoveredMonitor and assist plant operations in accordance with company policies and plant standard operating procedures Perform any general work or other assignments necessary to ensure safe, clean, and efficient shop operations Obtain Competent Operator Certification and safely operate the overhead cranes and forklifts Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and inspection of shop tools and equipmentMaintain a clean and organized work area at all timesAssist with organizing materials and supplies for jobsCommunicate and work effectively with shop personnel, supervisors, and management to achieve project goals What You'll Bring 2+ years of experience and general knowledge of industrial painting preferredExperience with painting tools such as sling psychrometers, wet mill gauges, dry mill thickness gauges, etc. preferredAbility to follow verbal and written instructionsProven ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing Must be dependable, trustworthy, possess a positive attitude, and be willing to work independently or in a team environmentAbility to use basic measuring devices such as tape measures, wet mil gauges, dry mil thickness gaugesPossess knowledge of metal plate types (steel, aluminum, stainless, galvanized, etc.), sizes, and shapes (beams, channels, angles, pipe, flat bar, etc.) preferredExperience with use of an overhead crane and forklift preferredAbility to meet strict deadlinesAbility to pass a respirator fit testValid driver’s license required
