Description
BridgeValley Community and Technical College invites applications for a full-time, grant-funded faculty position to support the BridgeValley Industry Assessment Center in the Division of Technology, starting in January 2025.
The responsibilities of this position include engaging with consortia partners, industry partners, and industrial advisory committees; conducting and assisting with energy assessments for industry; and consulting on the implementation of SMART and sustainable manufacturing technologies. Additional responsibilities involve the development of project-related curriculum, the creation of training and outreach materials, course instruction, the delivery of training to partner organizations, and pursuing professional development to achieve project goals.
This position is based on the South Charleston campus, however travel to both campuses may be required and teaching obligations may be on the Montgomery campus or remote/online as well as the South Charleston campus. The salary for this grant-funded position will be commensurate with education and experience.
Examples of Duties
+ Assist in grant implementation, monitoring and reporting.
+ Engage with consortia partners, industry partners, and industrial advisory committees
+ Conduct and assist with energy assessments for industry
+ Consult on the implementation of SMART and sustainable manufacturing technologies
+ Develop institutional facilities
+ Develop project-related curriculum
+ Create training and outreach materials
+ Provide course instruction
+ Deliver training to partner organizations
+ Utilize different methods and mediums in delivering course material including online and remote delivery.
+ Maintain expertise in subject area and pursue professional development to achieve project or program goals.
+ Provide academic advising for students and take an active role in job placement of students as they approach graduation.
+ Support program, department and institutional operational objects, especially the implementation and maintenance of the program ABET assessment process.
+ Participate in recruiting efforts for division programs including but not limited to such things as: giving tours to prospective students or tour groups, visiting high school and career technical centers, as well as supporting institution and division outreach events.
+ Participate in institutional and divisional committees.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology or similar program.
+ A minimum of three years of relevant industrial experience.
+ A commitment to teaching excellence, responsiveness to student needs, written and oral communication skills, experience applying teamwork skills, positive problem resolution skills as well as a commitment to life-long learning and continuous improvement.
+ Ability to travel to industry partner sites.
Preferred
+ Master’s degree in engineering, engineering technology or similar program
+ 18 hours of graduate credit in engineering or engineering technology
+ Background experience in related areas such as project management, industrial systems, sustainable manufacturing process, process improvement, quality management, data analysis, or industrial automation and control.
+ Prior experience consulting, especially with a background in energy assessments
+ Prior experience in project management
+ Prior experience in grant reporting and working with federal grants
+ Prior teaching experience
+ Professional licensure and/or certifications with an emphasis on energy, energy efficiency, sustainability and similar focus areas
