This position is responsible for taking action to advance Colorado Workforce Development Council's (CWDC) industry-led strategy and providing support to ensure that CWDC’s strategies are carried out with deep and meaningful industry leadership and engagement. The primary projects the position is responsible for include: project management and providing technical assistance for the coordination, development, enhancement and sustainability of regional sector partnerships, industry-driven career pathways and work-based learning opportunities. Examples of specific duties include facilitating Sector Community of Practice calls and partnership meetings, Salesforce data management and interpretation, providing sector partnership grant and contract management, planning events and assisting with data collection and reporting on KPIs.
Additionally, as part of the CWDC team, the position is responsible for providing implementation support for the federal and state legislation listed below:
Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, the CWDC shall assist the Governor in the development and expansion of strategies for meeting the needs of employers, workers and jobseekers, particularly through industry or sector partnerships related to in-demand industry sectors and occupations. The CWDC shall identify and disseminate information on best practices, including best practices for effective training programs that respond to real time labor market analysis.
House Bill 15-1274, Creation of Career Pathways for Students for Critical Occupations in Growing Industries, requires that the CWDC, in collaboration and consultation with its partners (including state agencies, Superintendents of local school districts, local Workforce Centers, and industry partners) design integrated career pathways for growth industries. The designed career pathways must focus on critical occupations in growth industries that do not currently have clearly articulated career pathways. The bill requires partnerships with industry (through regional sector partnerships and trade associations) to inform and drive the development of each pathway. Industry partners must also review each career pathway annually to ensure the pathway remains relevant to the industry and to provide input for ongoing adjustments to the pathway to meet workforce needs.
Colorado HB 15-1170 Increasing Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness as it relates to industry engagement, Industry Consultant will collaborate with Education Consultant to increase K-12 engagement in sector partnerships, engage industry to advise on relevant Industry Recognized Certifications receiving incentives as part of the Career Development and Incentive Program and work strategically to assist employers working to increase student readiness for careers.
This role will ensure coordination and collaboration across a diverse set of CWDC partners and also operate cross functionally on the CWDC team.
