Primary Purpose:

The primary purpose of the Industry Representative role is to meet Sales Goals and build profitable sales, primarily by phone, employing a consultative sales approach within an assigned territory. Develops and maintains a long-term partnership with customers by using industry expertise. Evaluates needs and opportunities within customer accounts and negotiates effectively to overcome obstacles and gain customer commitment. Gains team advantages and opportunity momentum by observing and orienting prior to making decisions and taking action on problem solving and solutions development. Uses ChemPoint resources to provide solutions to customer needs and gathers market intelligence.

 

What You'll Do:

Develops relationships with customers within assigned territory, ranging from small/medium businesses to larger complex organizations. Maintains understanding of customer's business, including their decision-making process, industry needs & trends, and competitive situation. Maintains existing business: prevents customer attrition; grows footprint within existing accounts; optimizes margin; converts to ChemPoint freight services; effectively manages leads; maps customer organizations to identify key decision-makers, and achieves organic growth through identifying new opportunities. Meets or exceeds customer interaction metrics. Foresees and mitigates risks associated to customer/supplier needs and potential solutions. Develops competency within specific market segment & customer territory, uses this knowledge to identify trends and originate new opportunities. Develops technical expertise and knowledge on product offerings. Shows curiosity about industry and global trends. Handles tasks as assigned by Product and Sales Management team. Engages in campaign process to implement and report on campaign activities and results. Maintains and develops customer profiles within CRM. Delivers price quotes within established guidelines. Escalates internal and external challenges and solutions in a timely manner and as the situation warrants. Achieves sales advantages and customer-focused solutions by defining objective, environment, resources, and plan. Considers aligning solutions to Company’s vision, values, & guiding principles. Aligns behavior and actions with Company’s culture by showing up with energy, promoting and adapting to change, initiating and promoting innovation, leading with courage, and having fun!

What You'll Need:

Bachelor’s degree from fully accredited four-year institution or equivalent work experience required; degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry preferred. Experience in business-to-business sales organization or ability to demonstrate required skills. 1-2 years’ professional experience in sales or similar technical background. Excellent problem solving and consultative selling skills Efficiently conveys ideas and concepts via multiple modes of communication, including excellent telephone skills Active listening skills with the ability to adjust behavior style to efficiently interact with others when addressing challenges. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook. Meticulous attention to detail. Ability to identify & establish appropriate collaboration and communication points (people, teams, organizational relationships) to achieve team advantages & customer targeted solution.
