Infection Control Nurse - Full Time

Description:Responsible for planning, developing, leading, monitoring, evaluating, and setting goals for the overall Infection Prevention Program organization wide, in accordance with federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations; and responsible for surveillance, reporting, identification and risk reduction of pandemic, endemic and epidemic healthcare acquired infections for patients and health care workers.

Position Purpose:

Responsible for planning, developing, leading, monitoring, evaluating, and setting goals for the overall Infection Prevention Program organization wide, in accordance with federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations; and responsible for surveillance, reporting, identification and risk reduction of pandemic, endemic and epidemic healthcare acquired infections for patients and health care workers

What You Will Do:

Develops, implements and over-sees organization-wide infection prevention program.

Leads the Infection Prevention Committee with the Infectious Disease Provider to develop and implement the Annual Risk Assessment, objectives and goals. 

Reviews and analyzes infection prevention data to develop goals and objectives for Infection Prevention Program.

Works closely with leaders and operational areas to ensure integration of infection prevention strategies at all levels of the organization.  Integrates infection prevention strategies with other strategic initiatives.

Conducts rounds of clinical areas providing consultative services to Leaders, colleagues, patients and families related to infection prevention practices and regulations.

Critically evaluates surveillance data to identify trends, outbreaks and process improvement opportunities related to infection prevention and control, and reports findings to appropriate providers, Leaders, committees and agencies.

Hours/Schedule:

Full Time; 40 hours/week

Minimum Qualifications:

Licensed Registered Nurse, current in the State of Iowa, required.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing required

Master of Science in Nursing required, or willing to obtain within five years of hire.

Certification in Infection Control (CIC), required, or willing to obtain within two years of hire

A minimum of five years of professional nursing experience with demonstrated skills in communication. 

A minimum of two years of infection control experience preferred with demonstrated skills in communication. 

Experience in evaluating research studies

Must be able to read, write and or/speak English

Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines
