The Infection Control Practitioner (ICP) is responsible for identifying, investigating, monitoring, and reporting healthcare-associated infections. The ICP collaborates with teams and individuals to create infection prevention strategies, provide feedback, and sustain infection prevention strategies. This position will maintain/upgrade-tracking methods for surveillance in order to produce meaningful data and outcomes for patients and hospital staff. The ICP is responsible for hospital wide education related to infection control related duties and is active in managing the infection prevention program. The ICP will work under the guise of the Infection Control Committee. This position will be available as a resource on infection control topics to staff, patients and the community.
Develop, implement, and evaluate the organizational infection prevention program.
Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with Hospital Safety and Infection Control policies as required by OSHA and the patient Safety Program.
Hospital Wide Education
Responsible for performance improvement activities as they relate to Infection Control.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Medical Technology with experience in Microbiology, or MPH
Current RN licensure or Medical Technology Certification (preferred)
Member of APIC Professional Group
Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology CIC preferred or, attainment within 2 years after employment
