Job Summary:
The Infection Prevention Program Manager – Corporate functions in a leadership role in collaboration with the Director of Infection Prevention to ensure the effective implementation of the Virtua Infection Prevention Program at a system level. This includes overseeing the competency of new Infection Prevention Managers, facilitating the implementation of system infection prevention policies across divisions, educating key partners including ANCs on infection prevention policies, and serving as a resource for Infection Prevention Managers at the divisional level. In addition, the Infection Prevention Manager – Corporate will collaborate with system leaders to advance other systemwide initiatives which may include hand hygiene and bloodborne pathogen exposure prevention programs.
Position Responsibilities:
Ensure effective policy implementation
Collaborate with divisional Infection Prevention Managers to implement Virtua infection prevention policies to ensure standardization across the system
Assist in troubleshooting implementation challenges
Round to ensure policies are effectively implemented
Evaluate policy implementation to identify opportunities for improvement
Assist with the review of current policies and the development of new policies
Provide education
Oversee the onboarding of Infection Prevention Managers new to Virtua to ensure they are fully prepared for their role
Educate key partners including ANCs on infection prevention policies
Collaborate with Nursing to ensure infection prevention information is incorporated into Nursing education, competencies, and newsletters/websites
Prepare educational material in support of policy implementation including tip sheets, PowerPoints, flyers, and full educational campaigns
Facilitate Infection Prevention’s participation in educational opportunities like Virtua Nurses Day
Present infection prevention information to key stakeholders as needed
Serve as an Infection Prevention resource
Partner with divisional Infection Prevention Managers as needed to address challenges at the divisional level
Role model best practices for Infection Prevention Manager
Respond to requests for information, guidance, and assistance from divisional leadership and Infection Prevention Managers
Lead special projects which may include but not limited to bloodborne pathogen exposure prevention and hand hygiene
Provide leadership for system-level BBPE and hand hygiene interventions
Present BBPE data at the divisional level
Partner with divisional leadership including Infection Prevention Managers to develop and implement action plans to address BBPE opportunities
Position Qualifications Required:
Required Experience:
At least 5 years' experience in Infection Prevention.
Current membership in APIC (Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Prevention) preferred.
Strong leadership and program management skills,
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Medical Technology, Biology, with education in Infection Prevention or master’s in public health (MPH).
Training / Certification / Licensure:
CIC required.
