Infection Preventionist

Position Description

The Infection Preventionist is responsible for activities surrounding infection prevention and control with emphasis on surveillance, investigation, data analysis/interpretation, consultation, and education. Through these activities, the Infection Preventionist supports the Hospital Infection Prevention Program to improve patient outcomes in all clinical areas as assigned by the director. This role serves as the Infection Prevention Officer.

Position Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field and 2 years or more of experience in nursing or acute care setting. Additional years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of minimum education requirement. Skills required: Computer skills required to include Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Certifications required: Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS).

Preferred Requirements

Master's Degree in Nursing. 4 years or more of experience in nursing. Computer skills required to include Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Access and SPSS highly desired. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) highly desired upon employment. Licensed to practice as Professional Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia or have an active Multi-State Registered Nurse Compact License.
