Infection Preventionist

Park Nicollet is looking to hire an Infection Preventionist (IP) to join our Infection Control team!  Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day. 


An Infection Preventionist (IP) works collaboratively with the leadership team, quality, medical and nursing staff to develop strategies to reduce the risk of infections and achieve top performance for key infection prevention measures. This begins with the ability to demonstrate infection prevention core competencies--prevention, surveillance and control. To perform surveillance by utilizing available electronic tools to collect data, applying critical thinking to interpret the data, and submitting required reliable data to the National Healthcare Surveillance Network (NHSN). Also able to apply adult learning principles to educational strategies, materials and presentations. The IP must be self-directed and self-motivating, plan and conduct work with minimal direction. The IP directly or indirectly reports to the Director of Infection Prevention.

Work Schedule:

M-F, 8-4:30 with flexible start/end time. Some on call coverage for staff questions. 

Methodist Hospital location with some minimal travel to other PN locations. In person with some flexibility for remote work

Required Qualifications:
1. At minimum, baccalaureate degree in nursing or health care related field (e.g. Medical Technology).

 2. Two years of experience in an acute and/or ambulatory care setting; infection control experience preferred.

 3. Documented course work in epidemiological principles, statistics, microbiology, adult education principles and principles of quality improvement preferred.

Special Knowledge/Skills/Certifications/Licenses:

 1. Licensed professionals must maintain current MN license.

 2. Must have valid driver’s license

 3. Master’s degree in related field preferred

 4. Nurses must maintain BLS certification

 5. National Certification in Infection Control preferred; or to become certified within three years of employment to this department.

 6. Active membership in the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology; or to become a member.
