No Duties and Responsibilities Loyola Information Commons (IC) supervisors coordinate all operations of the Loyola Information Commons, including the supervision of a large staff of student employees. This particular position will primarily be responsible for supervising the IC Thursdays through Monday with days off on Tuesday and Wednesday. Hours will likely be: Thursday, 10am-6pm; Friday, 10am-6pm; Saturday 8am-4pm; Sunday 10am-4pm and 10pm-12am; Monday 4pm-12am.

The IC supervisor will often be the only University Libraries staff member present in the Information Commons and Cudahy Library (apart from student workers). Responsibilities of this position include overseeing operations at the IC first floor desk, including the supervision of 2-3 student workers per shift; serving as the point person for student staff other library and information technology departments; managing the Information Commons/Cudahy Library facilities and reporting issues as needed; and maintaining building security in collaboration with Campus Safety. The supervisor will also train and supervise student employees in consultation with the entire IC staff.

Oversees operation of the Information Commons during weekend hours when other supervisors are not available and during weekday hours with other supervisors: Thursday 10am-6pm Friday 10am-6pm Saturday: 8am-4pm (opens building) Sunday: 10am-6pm; 10pm-12am (opens building/closes building) Monday: 4pm-12am (closes building)

Supervises 2-3 student workers per shift in consultation with full-time Information Commons staff Oversees Information Commons and Cudahy Library building management and reports issues as they arise Coordinates with other services and service points in the building. Point person for student workers from the IC and other departments (other library departments; information technology services) Communicates with IC Director and Daytime, Evening, and Late Evening/Weekend supervisors about issues that arise outside of regular business hours Informs IC partners (Access Services, Research & Learning, ITS, Writing Center) about issues arising outside of regular business hours Monitors security gates and manages patron access to the Information Commons Enforces Information Commons/University Libraries policies Maintains building security in consultation with Campus Safety Staffs, answers questions, and provides referrals at first floor desk
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience Two to three years of college and two years of supervisory experience required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree Excellent Customer/public service skills and experience Previous supervisory experience Previous experience in either a library or higher education setting Previous experience with building management and security Excellent reliability and time-management Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams) and ability to learn other library software Flexibility with scheduling
