Essential Job Responsibilities/Expectations
Reporting to the System Pharmacy Informatics and Automation Manager, the Informatics Pharmacist Specialist is responsible for maintaining and optimizing pharmacy and medication related technologies. He/she will collaborate with pharmacy leaders to help support pharmacy operations, enhance clinical effectiveness, ensure quality, and support financial needs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for evaluating, guiding, implementing, and building data systems that support the pharmacy through process improvement measures, patient safety enhancements, and overall efficiency related to electronic medication use process.
2. Collaborate with others to ensure the EHR’s integration with other medication related technologies (automated dispensing systems, pharmacy automation, infusion pumps, etc.)
3. Collaborate with pharmacy leaders to design and implement proper safety protocols, clinical decision support, and medication error prevention strategies.
4. Identify opportunities to streamline pharmacy workflows to eliminate inefficiencies using informatics tools and methodologies.
5. Participate in development efforts to explore innovative technologies and best practices in pharmacy informatics; identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in pharmacy services and information management.
6. Knowledgeable in medications and exhibit the clinical and professional skills to positively interact with physician, nurse, and other health care practitioners in hospital formulary issues, in-services, rounds, etc.
7. Serves as a liaison to all appropriate clinicians for any responsible technologies.
8. Assists in the training and education of pharmacy residents, pharmacy students and pharmacy technician students.
9. Maintains a professional image and positive attitude, leads by example, and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and other colleagues in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.

Qualifications/Training/Education:
Prior job-related experience in an acute care hospital and pharmacy informatics, required
Baccalaureate degree or PharmD Degree from an accredited school of pharmacy, required
Current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the state of South Carolina. required
Epic certification/proficiency in a medication related module (Willow IP, Willow OP, Willow Inventory, Beacon, Ambulatory), required PGY1, preferred
