We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Firewall Management Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in firewall management, network security, and a proven track record with Algosec products. This role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing firewall policies and rules to ensure robust network security. This role ensures the security and integrity of the organization's network by maintaining and optimizing firewall configurations and responding to security incidents.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist projects with firewall policy flows, identifying required rules for application flows, VPN/NAT connectivity requirements.
Design firewall policies/rules as needed; Oversee the configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of firewall systems
Implement firewall rule changes according to project requirements; ensure firewall rules and policies are up-to-date and aligned with security best practices.
Revalidate firewall rules to ensure compliance and effectiveness by conducting regular audits and reviews of firewall configurations.
Optimize security controls and perform firewall rule housekeeping.
Review and configure IPS, IDS, antivirus, and antibot settings.
Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards.
Review and approve patch and signature updates.
Review and approve infrastructure upgrades.
Ensure compliance with security control changes.
Participate in and contribute to network security architecture discussions.
Document incidents and create post-incident reports with recommendations for improvement
Stay updated with the latest firewall technologies, threat landscapes, and security best practices.
Advanced level skill in firewall policy management with the ability to manage support cases with external technology vendors.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum 5-years of firewall management experience.
Certifications:
Algosec expert level certification; some regulatory compliance background considered a strong asset
Relevant industry-accredited certifications in networking (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) and security (e.g., CISSP, CISM) are considered a strong asset
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with Algosec, Splunk, and FortiGate.
Strong understanding of firewall rulebase best practices.
Expertise in NAT, VPNs, IPS/IDS, networking, and TCP/IP.
Knowledge of F5 iRule design and implementation Knowledge of security design and architecture.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to participate in customer stand-up meetings.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:
Proven track record and hands-on experience with Algosec products, including configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
Comprehensive knowledge and experience in network architecture, design, and implementation.
Ability to manage and optimize network performance, ensure security, and troubleshoot complex network issues.
Familiarity with network automation tools and practices. Experience in scripting and automating network tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
