As a key member of our Networking team, the LAN/WAN Intern will be responsible for a variety of issues pertaining to Networking, Server Hardware, and PC Software. 

What you will learn at Crown:

Network Infrastructure Management including: Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Cisco switches and routers Investigating software/hardware compatibilities, issues, and bugs and mitigating the risks presented Troubleshooting bad routes, dead links, misconfigurations Wireless networking fundamentals including: Configuration and installation of wireless access points Applications of wireless concepts such as mesh networks Experience in configuration and maintenance of wireless devices including laptops, handheld scanners, and mobile devices Virtual computing environments: VMWare VSphere and Microsoft HyperV. Access to Security and Corporate Hyper-V test environments Creation and management of Hyper-V domain based environments Disaster Recovery Strategies including: Tape backup hardware/software and common backup strategies. Deduplication based backups Secondary datacenter hosting (co-location) Web development skills required along with working knowledge of Internet networking concepts (DNS, certificates, registrars). Patch management and application deployments: Vulnerability assessment & remediation Deployment solutions Sharepoint, MySQL, SQL and Oracle: Application integration and implementation Internet Security Next Generation firewall technologies – implementing policies with applications instead of antiquated port based firewalls Zero-Day threat mitigation at the perimeter Securing web applications with DNS best practices, Extranet, FTP & EDI – real world experience Messaging Technology Deploying and maintaining highly available email databases Spam / Phishing defense – how to leverage cloud and traditional on premise email filtering to keep inboxes secure Other technologies to which you will be exposed include: Systems Analysis Techniques; Routing/Switching; DNS; DHCP; System and Network Security; Firewalls; Network Management; Telecommunications; Internet/Extranet Technologies; Storage Area Networks; Network Attached Storage; cluster server technologies; database management system concepts; Wide Area Networking; Virtual Server Technologies; DR implementation.
