POSITION SUMMARY
Design, customize, and implement secure and scalable hospital voice system. Collaborate with internal technology staff as well as outside vendors / technology experts to analyze and resolve problems. Create and implement new applications using the VOIP tools as well as other programming languages. Install and support an Asterisk based VoIP system. Creates support documentation as well as reviewing / writing policies and procedures relating to the hospital’s voice systems. Trains other support and administrative staff. Completes ongoing planning and project management related to the hospital’s VOIP systems.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Work related Experience: Minimum 5 years previous experience required. Experience with Asterisk, FreeSwitch, Apache, Linux, PHP, and MySQL required. Experience with standard hardwired legacy PBX systems, such as Comdial, preferred.
Formal Education: Bachelors degree in computer science or related field preferred. dCAP certification preferred.
Additional relevant experience/education or certification required: Must have a solid understanding of standard telephony components. Must understand the inner mechanics of the Linux Operating System as well as the functionality of the applications configured within the clustered environment. Required to modify programs or databases, and manage upstart and cron jobs. Need to be fluent in solving system problems via system logging, application logging, packet tracing, and core dumps. Must have good written and verbal communication skills, analytical and problem solving, and project management skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Guides the day to day administration of the organizations VoIP systems.
2. Creates VoIP solutions that comply and align with the organization voice strategy.
3. Writes, tests, and implements, web based source code for the purpose of statistical reporting and user interface creation.
4. Install, configure, and implement the current installation of the VOIP systems based on a scripted, implementation document.
5. Builds, maintains, and monitors all auto attendant / queuing systems.
6. Researches, tests, and implements all hardware and software to create a zero downtime VoIP system.
7. Trouble-shoots and corrects all problems with the organizations VoIP systems.
8. Exhibits proficiency in all relevant telecommunications protocols.
9. Continuously monitors all aspects of the organizations VoIP systems to ensure maximum uptime.
10. Understands various computer systems including but not limited to both Linux and Windows based operating systems.
11. Meets with hospital staff to properly determine telephony needs.
12. Provides formal and informal training on a regular basis to IS staff regarding changes, plans, and operating policies and procedures.
13. Maintains regular communication with IS staff to ensure the most effective trouble shooting and monitoring of the organizations VoIP systems.
14. Keeps the management informed of status of all planning, problems, and potential problems.
15. Provides support to operation staff and help desk.
16. Enhances professional growth through participation in education programs, current literature, and workshops.
17. Creates and updates the project database timely.
