Overview Information Technology Services is responsible for AARP enterprise-wide technology and information security functions. Services range from infrastructure design and operations, system and software lifecycle implementations, enabling the mobile workforce and protecting AARP network, systems and data. A variety of technologies and practices are used including cloud computing, automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning within highly collaborative Agile teams. Do you have a passion for thinking and acting agilely and implementing ideas that impact the 50+ community? Then, AARP’s Information Technology Services (ITS) team is looking for you! As an information technology intern, you will be crucial in supporting the financial management and stewardship of projects within the IT department. This individual will be responsible for developing tools and frameworks and providing training to bridge the gap for delivery leads, ensuring effective financial planning, tracking, and reporting. We’ll challenge you to think in new ways, and we will cultivate your continued learning and development. This paid internship is anticipated to start in May/June 2025 and end in August. Responsibilities Develop and implement financial management tools, templates, and processes tailored to the needs of the IT department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives Provide guidance and support to delivery leads and project managers on financial best practices Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial workflows, improve accuracy, and optimize resource utilization Conduct regular financial reviews and analyses to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or efficiency improvements Co-lead training sessions and workshops to enhance financial literacy and competency among IT staff, fostering a culture of financial accountability and transparency Qualifications Ideal candidate pursuing a degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university as rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or postdoctoral students and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship, or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations Knowledge of IT project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum) and familiarity with IT infrastructure, software development lifecycle, and technology trends is a plus AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position at this time. Additional Requirements Regular and reliable job attendance Exhibit respect and understanding of others to maintain professional relationships In office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise Hybrid Work Environment AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories. Compensation and Benefits The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
