Information & Technology Risk Officer - Wholesale Banking Tech

As I&TR Officer, you contribute to the design, preparation and coordination of programs and projects of the NFR / I&TR function. You challenge, advise, and support the identification, analysis, and mitigation by 1st Line of Defense/business of non-financial risks, raising the NFR awareness throughout Wholesale Banking and check that the 1st Line of Defense/ business is complying with the risk appetite and escalates where necessary.

The team
You will be part of the Information & Technology Risk Wholesale Banking Tech (I&TR WB Tech) department that resides within the Non-Financial Risk domain and that exists of a team of 12 I&TR Officers located in Amsterdam covering I&TR activities for the main Wholesale Banking entities. You will hierarchically report to the Head of I&TR Wholesale Banking Tech. Besides that, I&TR WB Tech functional steer the I&TR officers in multiple locations like New York, Singapore, London, Geneva, and acts as an expert center for Information (Technology). In this position travelling (up to 30%) might be required to give support to ING Wholesale Banking entities across the globe.

Roles and responsibilities
As I&TR Officer WB your role is to:

Support the Head of I&TR / WB Tech of ING Bank with research, fact finding, collecting evidence, and documenting activities.

Contribute to the development and maintenance of I&TR Strategy, Framework, Policies, Minimum Standards, Procedures, Methods, and Techniques.

Perform parts of the functional oversight of the global I&TR community by means of QA reviews as part of our functional steering role.

Be a trusted I&TR advisor towards 1st LoD management and 1st LoD and 2nd LoD NFR risk specialists.

Identify external / internal developments, initiatives, and threats. Translate these pro-actively in I&TR Vision, Mission, and Strategy of ING Bank.

Participate in, challenge, and periodically report upon the risks of key strategic (IT) programs and projects.

Participates in designated projects, developments, or business initiatives, challenging and advising on information risks.

Participate and challenge in risk assessments on specific Operational Risk or Information Risk projects and programs, taking direction over junior (I&TR) colleagues.

Create and publish strategic and ad-hoc risk analyses, risk papers and risk reports with fact finding, research and documenting activities.

Participates in designated projects, developments or business initiatives, challenging and advising on information risks.

How to succeed

In this role you are a trusted senior I&TR advisor, who monitors, challenges, and advises the identification, analysis, and mitigation by 1st LoD/business of risks to ING that result from inadequate security of information (supporting business applications, IT processes, databases and supporting infrastructure), with the aim of assuring reliability of information, integrity, and the availability of systems. You like to coach and guide junior staff in their development. Furthermore, you have:

Experience as senior I&TR with at approx. 10 years in risk areas that are relevant respectively for Information (Technology).

Track record as I&TR, IT auditor or IT (Security) expert.

Good knowledge of Banking business, processes, procedures and systems.

Collaboration skills and ability to work across both functional and geographical lines.

Ability to earn trust and respect of clients, colleagues and senior management.

Ability to be I&TR expert when needed and show flexibility when possible.

Excellent analytical skills and sound judgment.

University Degree or equivalent.

Professional education and multiple international certifications for Information (Technology) (e.g., RE, ISC2, ISACA accreditations).

Fluent in English (written and spoken).    

For the non-financial risk expert role, you have in addition:

Proven track record with functional steering in a global environment in multiple banking entities (in preferably a wholesale banking environment).Proven, good (risk) reporting skills.Good presentation skills.Knowledge about AI, typical AI risk assessments and AI projects.
