Yes County Albany Street Address 150 Broadway, Flr 5 City Menands State NY Zip Code 12204 Duties Description ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time.Under the direction of a Project Assistant, SG-NS, the Information Technology Specialist 2, SG-NS, will function as a project manager responsible for assisting the WCB Dedicated Team with managing and supporting the WCB Modernization program of projects. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:• Develop project planning documents including project schedules/plans and communication plans.• Assist with the facilitation, tracking, coordination, and management of ITS tasks across dedicated and ITS shared services teams to ensure ITS success. • Track the performance of the project (cost, scope, schedule, and quality).• Work closely with assigned WCB project managers to ensure dedicated team staff individually and as a team are meeting all program and project goals, milestones, and tasks.• Determine impacts of change requests to assigned projects as well as assist in determining overall impacts to the agency portfolio and ITS/WCB resources.• Assist WCB project managers with maintaining project records in ITSM.• Help to gather data and create project reports as needed.• Support staff recruitment, onboarding and offboarding of vendor staff including coordination of obtaining/recovering needed equipment and seating. • Provide guidance on project performance measurements.• Work with dedicated team managers to gather estimates for current and new projects.• Assist dedicated team managers with the tracking and allocation of project and program resources. • Assist with processing and tracking of vendor staff hours and contract renewals.• Assist with the development of internal program communications and dissemination of information.• Assist with change management processes and ensure communication and appropriate test resources are scheduled.• Maintain project document repositories. Minimum Qualifications Either 1. a bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science;Or 2. a bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field AND one year of experience in information technology;Or 3. 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science AND one year of experience in information technology;Or 4. two years of experience in information technology.Experience in information technology includes experience in one or more of the following computer-related areas: artificial intelligence; automation; business/systems analysis; cloud computing; computer installation; diagnosis and repair; computer programming; cybersecurity/information assurance; data analytics; database administration, design and management; design and development of geographic information systems; design and development of computer aided drafting applications; digital forensics; informatics; information technology; IT customer support and training; interactive user experience (UX); internet/intranet development, design, and maintenance; knowledge management; network management; program design; program testing; project management; server management; storage management; systems management; technical writing; telecommunications; virtual technology. If verifiable, we will accept and prorate appropriate part-time and volunteer experience. Additional Comments Some positions may require fingerprinting. Some positions may require up to 25% travel and/or lifting up to 50 lbs. Some positions are pending Civil Service approval. Positions located in New York City, will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non- competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making temporary appointments. In May 2024, if a temporary NY HELPS employee is satisfactorily performing in the position, the appointment will be changed from temporary pending Civil Service Commission Action to permanent non-competitive and the official probationary period will begin.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.
