Responsibilities You will troubleshoot an organization’s network, application, or database to correct a system problems. You will analyze network utilization reports to identify, define, or correct problem areas. You will diagnose an information system to maintain reliability of services to support customers. You will discuss information assurance (IA) activities with managers to maintain a consistent approach to the IA program. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition to the experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment (involves installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of hardware and software systems to meet business requirements of customer); 2) Apply all applicable Information Assurance (IA) Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) patches to ensure systems availability , functionality, integrity and efficiency; 3) Research, evaluate and provide feedback on problematic trends and patterns in customer support requirements; 4) Develop local guidance and procedures for implementation of mandatory technical standards, working with functional managers to evaluate impact of proposed standards and procedure; 5) Develop and manage customer service performance requirements, consult with customers to identify and specify requirements. OR Successful completion of 3 full years (54 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution NOTE: The education listed above must be a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management, or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or network Additional Information This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. A 40-hour work week is typical. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. The employee may be required to work overtime. The employee may be recalled to duty after working hours. Physical Demands Work is primarily sedentary, although there may be some carrying of books, printouts, manuals, files and equipment. Work Environment Work is performed in a typical office setting. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
