Infrastructure Engineer, Private Cloud

 

Overview:

We are seeking a motivated Infrastructure Engineer to support the ongoing operation and enhancement of our critical Private Cloud departmental and enterprise systems. Reporting to the Manager, Hosting, this role demands a hands-on contributor who excels in a dynamic environment and is enthusiastic about tackling new technical challenges.

 

Responsibilities:

Ensure timely and accurate response to user support requests while maintaining security, high availability, and reliability of systems. Deploy and maintain physical and virtual Linux systems from hardware to operating system. Execute traditional Unix administration tasks proficiently. Provide support for SAN and VMware environments. Develop and maintain scripts/utilities for process automation.

 

Qualifications:

Essential:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field. 2-4 years of hands-on experience administering Unix systems, including installations and upgrades. Red Hat Enterprise Linux is preferred. Proficiency with automation tools (Ansible, Git, Python, Bash, Perl). Strong knowledge of standard Unix subsystems such as printing, Postfix, DNS, and NFS. Ability to work occasional weekends/evenings for critical upgrades or problem resolution.

 

Desirable:

Experience with public cloud computing platforms (IaC, Azure, AWS). Knowledge of DevOps principles and frameworks. ITIL certification. Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Understanding of network peering/VPC, Cloud-to-Cloud, On-Prem-to-Cloud connectivity. Operation and management of Cisco UCS environments. Professional certifications in relevant technologies. Knowledge of SSL/TLS certificates. Experience in designing and implementing cloud connectivity. Network management experience (F5 load balancer, Cisco Firepower, Cisco switches).

Additional Skills:

Enthusiastic and rapid technical learner. Familiarity with CICD pipeline processes and tools. General knowledge of Cloud Provider Services such as AWS, GCP, Azure, or PCF. Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. Participation in an on-call pager pool rotation. About InterSystems
