The role

Work as an Infrastructure Engineer at any level within a team, contributing to delivering and maintaining operational systems in our many business areas.

This opportunity will be an office-based role at our Gloucester site, with potential opportunity for an element of hybrid working.

This role requires the applicant to hold an active eDV clearance.

Role & Responsibilities:

Perform system administration and backup tasksAssist in the investigation and resolution of issues relating to applications, networks and servicesContribute to maintenance, installation and problem resolutionResearching and resolving system design issuesProvide interpretation of requirements and design into the component design and implementation

Candidate Requirements:

Essential skills

Experience working within an Agile / SCRUM / DevOps delivery modelExperience as a Systems Engineer in software intensive programmes covering full engineering lifecycle from requirements decomposition to acceptance and customer sign offUnderstanding of the complexities in design and implementation of large-scale information systemsAbility to take responsibility for technical aspects of a project, and to work closely with project management to deliverLinux administration and deploymentUnderstanding of server, storage and desktop hardware

Desirable Skills/Experience

Experience working in a Linux environment (RedHat, CentOS)Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, OU, User and Group ManagementDemonstrable experience of model-based systems architecture/engineering (e.g. MODAF, TOGAF)Knowledge of RedHat migrationsKnowledge of networking health monitoringKnowledge of Concourse (writing pipelines, administering the cluster)Understanding of VMware vSphere ESXiKnowledge of Atlassian SuiteInfrastructure as Code (e.g Terraform, Ansible)Docker / Kubernetes containerisation and orchestrationElasticsearch/KibanaCloud services (AWS or Azure)Helm chartsMongoDBExperience building enterprise level web applications or servicesApache Kafka
