For more information, visit amwater.com and join American Water on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. _ *Primary Role*_ Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for performing the cellular and wireline expense planning and analysis activities for the Technology & Innovation function; delivering timely and accurate forward-looking financial reports, plans and forecasts, technology asset management, and service level result interpretations; and collaborating with business partners on the quarterly and annual reporting schedules and deliverables. Additionally, the Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for facilitating the proper payment on the monthly wireless bill. _ *Key Accountabilities*_ • Works with technology team, T&I leaders and T&I business partners to deliver effective analysis of results (plan, forecast and actuals). • Analyzes integrated financial results, reviews financial/operational metrics, and prepares key performance variance analysis/explanations. • Manages assigned T&I expenditures to plan. Develop integrated expense analyses, projections, cost allocations, and reporting. • Manage order for wireless and fixed services with carriers. • Works with State stakeholders on reviewing the monthly wireless reports to ensure accurate accounting, cost association and termination of any unnecessary lines of service. • Work with T&I, State and Supply Chain stake holders to review and process any disputes with the carriers. • Facilitates the proper payment of the telecom bills monthly with Accounts Payable. • Elicits and analyzes information needs and requirements. Evaluates information gathered, reconciles conflicts, decomposes high-level information into details, abstracts up from low-level information to a general understanding, and often distinguishes general requests from underlying true business needs. • Collaborates with business partners to understand business requirements and/or operational issues that may impact technology spending. • Build and maintain Supplier/Contractor relationships with the objective of reducing total costs, increasing productivity, and eliminating inefficiencies. • Identifies processes for improvement and document existing processes, identify gaps between current processes and the desired state, assist in the design of new processes, help to develop process performance measures and plan the transition to a new process. • Develop Service Performance Requirements for Continuous Improvement, and monitor/reports the progress of the performance improvement plan. • Ensure service level targets, performance and compliance requirements are achieved. _ *Knowledge/Skills*_ • Strong quantitative, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills. • Possess a solid general technology background, with financial, technology procurement, operational and rates & regulatory knowledge of utility companies. • Working knowledge of wireless and fixed service carriers and how to analyze and process their monthly billing data. • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate quantitative and qualitative analyses into clear messages for the audience. • Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity and rapid change. • Effective planning, organizing and time management skills. • Ability to lead through influence, including ability to work effectively with all levels throughout the organization and across functional lines to deliver results through others. • Perseverance; ability to maintain composure, a sense of perspective and humor to engage constructively with business owners under pressure to meet ambitious business outcomes. • Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on approach and success in working in a highly matrixed organization. • Strong knowledge of accounting concepts; fully understand regulatory accounting and recognized as a corporate resource for their expertise. • Ability to utilize multiple methods of analysis, cost accounts analysis, budgeting and forecasting to a standard that can be upheld upon peer review. • Good knowledge of strategies and methodologies related to technology services and technology procurement. • Good SOX, Rates and Capital Compliance requirements knowledge and the ability to perform activities related to SOX, Rates or Capital compliance. • Ability to identify the need for and develop new financial analysis requirements and models. • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products and productivity tools Working knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Dynamics and Hyperion reporting systems • Good knowledge of Rates, Regulatory, and Regulatory Accounting Principles. • Good knowledge of ITSM and ITIL. • Good knowledge of Digital Technologies and Applications, and the ability to translate into cost determinations. • Good knowledge of Agile methodologies in a technical environment. • Understanding of Intellectual Property Rights as related to Technology Assets. _ *Experience/Education*_ • 7+ years of financial planning & analysis / technology business management / financial management, & technology vendor management experience. • Exposure to and good understanding of rate case testimony related to technology strategies and solutions. • Regulated Utility Experience a plus • Bachelor's degree in a Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, and/or relevant Technology area is required.
