Infusion Nurse
Job Title: Oncology Infusion NurseJob Description The ideal candidate will plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate patient care plans, focusing on the needs of oncology patients. This role involves direct patient care, including administering medications and therapies under physician supervision, and ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with all health and safety guidelines. Responsibilities + Plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate patient care plans. + Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding current status and medical history. + Collect and record nursing assessments and interventions. + Review and report health status assessments, physical examinations, lab data, radiographic data, and psychosocial assessments to the provider. + Assess patient and family needs, providing teaching and instructional material as needed. + Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician. + Administer medications and blood products, ensuring correct dosage, route, time, and technique. + Obtain pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms prior to administering therapies where applicable. + Facilitate dose modifications by assessing patients, reviewing labs, consulting protocols or treatment plans, calculating doses, and consulting with physicians regarding dosage modifications and symptom management. + Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line catheter devices. + Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and treatments provided. + Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture. + Restock supply areas as needed. + Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record information in the patient chart. + Assist physicians with exams and procedures. + Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals, and future appointments for patients. + Triages patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient's chart. Essential Skills + Oncology nursing experience + Triage skills + Chemotherapy administration + BSN RN + IL state licensed RN + BLS certification + Ambulatory care experience Additional Skills & Qualifications + BSN RN + IL Registered RN + 3-5 years of nursing experience + Minimum of 1 year of oncology experience + Oncology certification is preferred (OCN certification) + Bilingual skills are a plus Work Environment The work hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.
