Inherited Cardiomyopathy Instructor

The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Virginia, School of Medicine, seeks candidates for an Inherited Cardiomyopathy Instructorship with a one year appointment to join its expanding Cardiology Division. The incumbents will be responsible for providing general, non-invasive, cardiovascular services, with an emphasis on inpatient and outpatient general cardiology. The candidates will actively participate in the teaching program with cardiology fellows and medical house staff.
This position is designed to train multi-modality capable cardiologists who plan to go on to sub-specialize in the management of inherited cardiomyopathy syndromes at centers of excellence. The instructor faculty will also have independent responsibilities on inpatient services and reading echocardiography
The Instructor will receive education and develop expertise in inherited cardiomyopathies through the following activities:
• Interpreting cardiac MRI/CT/PYP studies under supervision of advanced imaging attending, with the goal of board eligibility in CT and CMR
• Independent interpretation of echocardiography
• Screening patients in clinical trials, performing independent research, and delivering general cardiology fellow education
• Seeing patients both independently and under the supervision of attendings with expertise in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and phenocopies, dilated cardiomyopathy, amyloid cardiomyopathy, and arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy in those dedicated clinics
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have an MD or equivalent and be board-certified or eligible in Cardiovascular Medicine by appointment start date and have level II echocardiography training.
