A dynamic individual with a passion for public health and related policy and programs that affect how injury and violence prevention policy, programs and practices are implemented and evaluated, is sought to join the IPMH team as the Injury and Violence Prevention Section Manager. Responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to: + Leading development of statewide programs and policies for injury and violence prevention. + Providing expert advice and representing the agency with the legislature, governor's office, other state agencies and partners on injury and violence prevention issues. + Budgetary oversight. + Supervision of 3 direct reports and guidance to a 30+ person section. This position is telework eligible for applicants who reside in Minnesota. Position location will be determined by the top candidate and will be based out of the closest MDH office location: Bemidji, Duluth, Fergus Falls, Marshall, Rochester, St. Cloud, or St. Paul. Attendance to various in person meetings and hearings in St. Paul is required. The position telework schedule will be based on the business needs of the unit and supervisory discretion. **Minimum Qualifications** _To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure your resume/application clearly describe your experience in the areas listed below and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of the minimum qualifications will be considered for this position._ Four years of experience in public health injury and violence prevention policy and programs. Experience to include all of the following: + Implementation and evaluation of programs and policy. + Oversight of budgets and administration of appropriate funds. + Experience as a supervisor. A degree in public health, public policy, public administration, or related field may count towards professional experience as follows: + Associate's = 6 months. + Bachelor’s = 12 months. + Master’s = 18 months. + Doctoral = 24 months. To be assessed at interview: + Communication skills sufficient to convey ideas, issues, and complex concepts in plain language. + Ability to apply effective critical thinking, analysis, problem solving, and negotiation skills. + Ability to quickly adapt approaches accordingly. **Preferred Qualifications** + Experience in strategic planning, policy development, implementation, program evaluation and coalition building. + Knowledge of state public health system planning processes, and administrative structure. + Experience writing reports, publications, and memoranda sufficient to clearly communicate technical subjects to a diverse audience. + Experience conducting focused research to generate accurate data for program evaluation and legislative decision making. + Experience identifying and evaluating information and conceptualizing alternative solutions to complex issues and conveying them to diverse audiences. **Additional Requirements** + Must successfully pass a background and reference check. + This employment does not require a valid driver's license, but it does demand occasional travel, which the candidate will be responsible for meeting. + The successful candidate under U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services regulations must be able to accept work in the U.S. by the day employment begins.
