Injury Prevention Specialist
Facility:Dayton Children's - Main CampusDepartment:TraumaSchedule:Full timeHours:40Job Details:The Injury Prevention Specialist implements injury prevention programs to support the Trauma Services Department, hospital and the community served. The Specialist works with the Injury Prevention & Outreach Supervisor, the Trauma Program Manager, and the trauma services department to identify programming gaps & needs. The Injury Prevention Specialist plans and executes programs related to child passenger safety and injury prevention, with the goal of improving the misuse rate and helping to educate parents, caregivers and the community. The Specialist will be responsible for coordination of events to include, but not limited to, community car seat checks, car seat education trainings, child passenger safety technician training and community programs. The Specialist is required to be a child passenger safety technician (CPST) and CPST Instructor. The Specialist supports research and evaluation of studies on timely injury and trauma-related topics. The Specialist may seek program funding through grants, community donations and in-kind donations. The Injury Prevention Specialist will work directly with the Injury Prevention & Outreach Supervisor and the Trauma Program Manager to assure program deliverables are met to secure program funding from grants and other sources as needed. This position is supported by grant funding to offset programming & position costs. Education GED/High School diploma is required Certification Must have Child Passenger Safety Technician certification, or gain certification within 3 months of hire. Must obtain Child Passenger Safety Technician Instructor certification within 18 months of hire. Experience 1- 3 years experience in health education/promotion, public health, injury prevention or related field required. 4-6 years preferred. Proven communications skills, experience with Microsoft Office products, strong verbal/written/organizational skills, able to handle multiple tasks and set priorities. Experience with managing community partnerships and collaborative projects, experience with injury prevention programs. Valid Ohio Driver’s License with less than six (6) points on record for traffic violations.
