Inpatient Cardiac Rehab Exercise Physiologist
Overview




Reviews appropriateness for inpatient Cardiac Rehab services through a review of the History and Physical, progress notes, and/or cath reports related to current admission. Collaborates with other health professionals in the provision of care. Advocates for and/or assists with Cardiac Rehab consults and/or referrals for hospitalized patients that are deemed appropriate for our services based on safety and that meet diagnosis and/or insurance criteria. Revises the inpatient exercise plan based on patient responses and outcomes. Provides individual explanation regarding inpatient ambulation, heart disease process, risk factor modification, and home activity protocol. Informs and involves family/significant others during education activities- with permission of the patient. Trouble shoots and informs unit nurse or ordering provider of events/activities that may affect usual or assigned duties. Reports significant and accurate information regarding inpatient Cardiac Rehab activities to unit nurse/provider in a timely manner.



Currently has an Exercise Physiology degree (minimum Bachelor’s degree and ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiology and/or CCRP certification preferred). At least two years clinical experience with patients diagnosed with cardiac disease required. At least two years’ experience in cardiac disease education preferred. BLS certification required. Ability to interpret and understand telemetry readings required.
