Inpatient Clinical Pharmacist III, Diversion Management
We are so glad you are interested in joining Sutter Health! **Organization:** MMC-Memorial Medical Center **Position Overview:** Provides leadership, guidance, clinical assessment, and management for all areas and responsibilities related to the daily operations of the drug diversion management program. Serves as a subject matter expert including compliance, policies and procedures, operational issues, and diversion prevention, detection, monitoring, response and investigation. Provides support and feedback for the pharmacy management team regarding regulatory changes, medication dispensing, and diversion monitoring trends and opportunities. Accountable for routine controlled substance audits, inventory, control, and review of discrepancies. Participates in implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive surveillance program to detect and respond to potential drug diversion. Works with stakeholders across multiple departments to identify, assess, investigate potential drug diversion incidents with the goal of preventing drug diversion, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. Partners with all pharmacy personnel to provide dedicated support and structure for the pharmacy operations teams with monitoring of all controlled substance activity. Serves as the liaison between pharmacy and other departments, clinics, outpatient sites, compliance officers, legal counsel, supply chain, pharmacy leadership, and health system leadership as relates to the operation and management of the drug diversion management program. Participates in local and system-wide committees for developing, planning, improving, and implementing diversion control processes. Able to serve as the primary trainer and competency administrator for new staff as well as act as a student preceptor for drug diversion management. **Job Description** : **EDUCATION:** + Doctorate: Graduation from an accredited school of Pharmacy. **CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:** + PHARMD-Licensed Pharmacist + OR PHARMR-Registered Pharmacist + ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support (for those who will be responding to codes) + American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Drug Diversion Certification, _Preferred_ + PGY-1 _Preferred_ **TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:** + 1 year of recent relevant experience. **SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:** + Knowledge of medical terminology, generic and trade pharmaceutical names, pharmaceutical calculations and laws and regulations. + Knowledge and understanding of different Pharmacy practice settings, including narcotic delivery and procedures. + Knowledge and ability to identify and employ pharmaceutical and medical terms, abbreviations and symbols commonly used in prescribing, dispensing, and record keeping of medications. + Requires a basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards including National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), The Joint Commission (TJC), Title XXII, United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Pharmacopeia (USP). + Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people. + Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines. + General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), related pharmaceutical technology, EHR, and EPIC. + Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines. + Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions. + Identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options. + Ensure the privacy of each patient’s PHI. **Job Shift:** Days **Schedule:** Full Time **Shift Hours:** 8 **Days of the Week:** Monday - Friday **Weekend Requirements:** Occasionally **Benefits:** Yes **Unions:** No **Position Status:** Non-Exempt **Weekly Hours:** 40 **Employee Status:** Regular Sutter Health is an equal opportunity employer EOE/M/F/Disability/Veterans.
