Inpatient Pharmacist
Job Title: Hospital Pharmacist - Inpatient Department: Pharmacy Reports To: Pharmacy Manager/Director Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Hospital Pharmacist to join our team, specializing in chemotherapy compounding. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and dispensing chemotherapy medications, ensuring the highest standards of safety and accuracy. This role requires a strong understanding of oncology pharmacotherapy and aseptic techniques. Key Responsibilities: + Chemotherapy Compounding: Accurately compound and dispense chemotherapy medications following established protocols and safety guidelines. + Patient Safety: Ensure all compounded medications meet the highest standards of safety, efficacy, and quality. Perform double-checks and verification processes to prevent medication errors. + Collaboration: Work closely with oncologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care and medication management. + Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of chemotherapy drugs and supplies. Monitor inventory levels and order necessary medications and materials. + Compliance: Adhere to all regulatory requirements, including USP <797> and <800> standards, and hospital policies related to chemotherapy compounding. + Education and Training: Provide education and training to pharmacy staff and healthcare professionals on safe handling and administration of chemotherapy drugs. + Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives to enhance the safety and effectiveness of chemotherapy compounding processes. + Patient Counseling: Offer counseling and support to patients and their families regarding chemotherapy medications, potential side effects, and proper administration techniques. Qualifications: + Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution. + Licensure: Current and valid pharmacist license in the state of (State). + Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital pharmacy setting, with specific experience in chemotherapy compounding preferred. + Skills: Strong knowledge of oncology pharmacotherapy, aseptic techniques, and chemotherapy safety protocols. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. + Certifications: Board certification in oncology pharmacy (BCOP) is preferred but not required. Working Conditions: + Environment: Work in a cleanroom environment with strict adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols. + Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, wear personal protective equipment (PPE), and handle hazardous drugs safely.
