Summary

The Physical Therapist is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of illness and injuries which impede independent functioning

in mobility and can be treated by physical means. Clinical responsibilities are outlined in the APTA (American Physical Therapy

Association) Scope of Practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provides evaluations and treatment across the continuum of care in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R).

Performs evaluation and fitting of collars, back braces, orthotics and compression garments.

Performs specific testing in the evaluation and treatment process appropriate for patient's diagnosis and functional level.

Demonstrates behaviors which foster a positive work environment.

Attends required meetings and adheres to Hospital and department policies and procedures, Mercy Core Values, and EXCEL!

patient experience commitment.

Assists in orientation and supervision of new employees, PTAs, students and volunteers.

Functions within the designed Scope of Practice and maintains appropriate ethical conduct.

Works weekend and holiday schedules as assigned.

Documents patient care according to Hospital and department guidelines.

Maintains program productivity standards.

Accepts direction to assist in all work areas across the continuum of care as census requires.

Participates in PI to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of program.

Ability to understand and react effectively to unique needs of patients in all age group(s) served.

Ability to vend equipment to patients as appropriate.

Provide wound care treatment across continuum of care in PM&R.

Demonstrate knowledge of equipment used for treatment and utilizes equipment appropriately.

Maintains Continuing Education Unit (CEU) requirements and provides staff with inservices as appropriate.

Performs other duties as assigned by Clinical Leader.

Must be licensed as a physical therapist in the State of Ohio.
CPR by AHA
Ohio Driver's License and car insurance.
