Job Description
The Inside Seal Applications Engineer for Commercial Operations Aftermarket (AM) is ultimately responsible for supporting our Customers and End-User sales team & Distributors channel as related to our Aftermarket offerings with the main target to increase our seal installed base and therefore our seal AM business. Support is given both to outside parties and internally to Commercial Operations Front-End Application Engineers as well as other cross-functional parties (e.g. Engineering, Operations, etc.).
The Inside Seal Application Engineer is responsible of creating and pre-define solutions, give quick price budget/estimations, and collaborate with Front-End Application engineers to issue complete proposal to clients. This will require coordination with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
The Inside Seal Applications Engineer uses strong technical background and commercial acumen, as well as strong communication skills, strong commitment to internal improvement of the team, effective communication and collaboration with all group interfaces, and a commitment to expanding team capabilities, as well as technical expertise and breadth of knowledge related to Flowserve's aftermarket offerings.
Major Accountabilities
Increase mechanical seals installed base and create business opportunities through sound technical and commercial proposals in response to Customers and Sales generated opportunities, and adequately follow up on those.Focus on competitor change-outs and upgrades with the target to increase seal AM business on repairs and parts.Respond to Customers inquiries and technical/commercial clarification requests, alone or in combination with Front-End Applications Engineers and/or End User Sales Engineer.Ensure high-quality proposals (technical and commercial) are timely prepared within limitations and customer scope using designated workload management tools and processes working alone or together with a Front-End Applications Engineer.Interact with a Front-End Applications Engineer and/or an End-User Sales Engineer to manage and monitor the proposal throughout the entire bid cycle including updating and maintaining designated workload management tool, while monitoring hit-rate is optimized.Review all customer inquiry-related documents while addressing all relevant technical and commercial requirements to customer and/or commercial Team.Seal & System technical selection. Pricing & Quotation elaboration. SAP elaboration & T&C’s review. Give eventual support/back of the Front-End Seal Applications engineer:Participate to customers meeting and visits, alone or in combination with End User Sales Engineer.Conduct if requested/needed on-site hands-on activities such as examine & inspect failed products at customer site, providing written and oral explanations to customer.Participate and assist in start-ups of rotating equipment for seal upgrades, retrofits or bad actors.Conduct field walkabouts for analyzing and troubleshooting rotating equipment to generate the opportunity to do upgrade and competitor change outs.Establish and maintain close working relationships with Customers, Sales, Operations, and other functional stakeholders to promote the best interests of the company.Demonstrate a firm knowledge of Mechanical seals and Sealing Systems fundamentals and clear understanding of all Flowserve seal types. Also, demonstrate a fundamental understanding of different rotating equipment applications and types, pump affinity laws and how these relate to seals and systems.Supervise & Mentor other colleagues with less experience when required.General requirements:
Engineering Degree background. Mechanical Engineering preferred.Working Experience: Desired a minimum of 2-3 Years of experience.Work experience in Rotating Equipment and/or Mechanical Seals would be a plus.Mandatory fluent in English and local language.Strong PC Skills and Experience using Microsoft Office Tools.Expected Travelling Time: less than 20% of overall
