Introduction to role

This is a senior manager role that involves insights and analytics, working on multiple indications in AstraZeneca's oncology portfolio, including several launches. Critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and a “can-do” attitude are key to success in this role. Recent consulting experience is strongly desired. The role is based in Gaithersburg, MD (US). In-office presence is required 60% of the time, a requirement that is non-negotiable.

Accountabilities

The Insights and Analytics Senior Manager, US Oncology generates actionable insights that help shape precision medicine (PM) strategy and tactics based on a combination of primary research and secondary data across customer segments – Pathologists/HCPs and other relevant partners. The Insights and Analytics Senior Manager will use sound market research along with strong analytical and critical thinking skills to guide PM and brand teams in making key decisions, informing brand performance and, occasionally, forecasts, developing promotional tactics, and overall brand strategy.

In addition to insights responsibilities, the Insights and Analytics Senior Manager, US Oncology leads commercial analytics (e.g., claims-based) primarily related to precision medicine for key brands/indications within the US Oncology portfolio to enhance performance of our inline assets and accelerate new launches. Although rarely will the Insights and Analytics Senior Manager directly implement analytics projects, they will be designing and pressure testing analytics projects driven by vendors and will be accountable for the quality of the work delivered by these vendors, with occasional guidance from manager and more senior team members.

The Insights and Analytics Senior Manager, US Oncology has a sharp analytics approach and synthesizes complex data to derive critical insights into biomarker testing, including underlying drivers and barriers, and delivers actionable insights through compelling, succinct storytelling, and impactful data visualization. As a partner to the business, the Insights and Analytics Senior Manager, US Oncology will identify key business questions and answer them with innovative insights and analytical approaches in partnership with Precision Medicine (PM) Marketing, Brand I&A, Data Science, Finance, Market Access, and Data Management teams.

This role reports to the Director, Market Access and Precision Medicine Insights and Analytics, and sits within US Insights & Analytics, an inclusive team that partners with the US Oncology commercial organization to drive strategic decisions by providing objective, data-driven insights generation and analytics.

What you'll do:

Lead qualitative and quantitative analyses and syntheses of key insights across different data sources to deliver actionable recommendations in support of critical business workstreams with limited/occasional guidance.Identify key business needs proactively and in collaboration with partners and build research/analytics plans to deliver actionable insights to shape strategy, collaborating closely with brand I&A, PM marketing, brand, forecasting and analytics colleagues.Develop a deep knowledge of biomarker testing, brand, customers, and market to be a strategic partner to the business.Create the integrated PM insights and analytics picture for the PM marketing and brand teams, weaving together primary market research, secondary analyses, and analytics from brand I&A, global I&A (if needed), field, Precision Medicine Marketing and Access Strategy colleagues to produce commercially meaningful insights.Build reports and presentations that clearly and succinctly highlight actionable insights combined with business implications & options.Lead insights metrics/KPI tracking for the PM team and/or brand (e.g., surveys, ATU), acting as the voice of pathologists/HCPs and other relevant partners. Provide meaningful performance/KPI development, tracking, and reporting.Oversee and optimize outsourced vendor partners and consultant relationships to deliver executional excellence.Promote standardization across brands and better enable capability builds cross-franchise.

Essential Skills/Experience

≥3 years of consulting experience in the pharmaceutical space3 + years of experience at a pharmaceutical / biotechnology manufacturer or working in the biopharmaceutical industry (e.g., data/analytics, management consulting, market research, investment banking), with strong preference for prior consulting experience)Comfort with quantitative analytics and experience with many of the industry standard secondary patient-level data sources (IQVIA, Symphony, etc.)Strong understanding of primary market research tools and techniquesConsulting experience and/or experience providing regular guidance to vendorsDemonstrated excellent skills in collaborating with and communicating results to end user clients/partnersBachelor's degree

Desirable Skills/Experience

Advanced Quantitative Degree in a related subject (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, or Engineering, or Economics) or Advanced Marketing Degree (e.g., MBA) or any advanced degree in the biomedical space (e.g., biology, pharmacology, medical school, nursing)Experience working in OncologyExperience working in the biomarkers/precision medicine spaceLaunch Experience and the ability to develop end-to-end Launch Insights Plans to ensure successful Launch Readiness of a new Brand or indicationFamiliarity with BI visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik, MicroStrategy, etc.)Project / Program management expertise

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $135,867 to $203,800. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles).
