**Clean Harbors** – Lake Charles, LA is looking for a **Hazardous Materials Technician** to join their safety conscious team. This person would be responsible for the performance of tasks associated with collecting, segregating, packing, and preparing for shipment of hazardous waste in accordance with our company policies and procedures at our client location in **Lake Charles, LA** + Ensures that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times; + Prepares computer-generated packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restrictions notifications; + Performs inspections of staging, accumulating and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance; + Inspects storage area for leaks or spills; + Inspects drums for compliance with labeling regulations; + Collects, segregates, and properly packages waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance; + Samples and profiles of new waste streams or any wastes needing analytical testing; + Physically demanding position; Must be able to lift 50 pounds; + Prepare all necessary tracking paperwork. + High School Diploma or Equivalent required; + Hazardous waste experience preferred; + Valid Driver’s License and clean Motor Vehicle Record. **Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities/Competencies:** • Attention to detail. • Able to take and follow direction. • Able to perform multiple tasks. • Ability to interface with customers. • Proficiency in Windows based applications **Travel** <10% **Physical Requirements:** Reasonable Accommodation Disclaimer The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily and, if requested, reasonable accommodations will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their job, absent undue hardship.
