POSITION SUMMARY
Supervises and directs the DOMI Code Enforcement Team which is responsible for inspection of right-of-way obstructions to ensure compliance with Pittsburgh's adopted Codes and Ordinances and the City of Pittsburgh Right-of-Way Manual.

Qualifying Requirements :
Your City of Pittsburgh application will be reviewed, and your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position. You will be sent an eligibility letter regarding your eligible/ineligible status.
+ WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must clearly show six (6) years of full-time experience in inspections, construction, or business management. (Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.)
+ EDUCATION/TRAINING: The application must clearly show a High School Diploma or equivalent.
+ EQUIVALENCY: Education/training may be substituted for work experience on a year for year basis if the application clearly shows the required number of years to meet the Total Qualifying Requirement for this position (based on the sum of work experience and education/training listed above). The Total Qualifying Requirement is six (6) years. (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training.)
CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATIONS

You must pass the written and/or performance examination(s) in order to have your name placed on the official Civil Service eligibility list for this position. POSITION DUTIES
+ Supervises and directs the work of all DOMI Code Enforcement inspectors. Manages daily operations of the code enforcement team by prioritizing inspections, and making assignments.
+ Reviews and approves inspection notices, work write-ups, and violation notices.
+ Prepares written materials, notices, or inspection reports as needed to resolve code enforcement issues.
+ Inspects and oversees inspection of right-of-way obstructions and violations to ensure compliance with applicable Codes, Ordinances and procedures.
+ Assists in the development of standard operating procedures to guide the work of the code enforcement team.
+ Supervises assigned personnel; evaluates work; recommends and implements approved disciplinary and/or corrective action; provides training and/or technical assistance as requested or required.
+ Answers complaints and questions concerning job-related matters by telephone, in writing and/or email.
+ Meets with City residents, individually or in groups, to apprise them of relevant government programs, violations and necessary corrections, etc.
+ Maintains relevant records on inspections; reviews daily reports, and provides daily reports to supervisor for preparation of monthly and annual inspections and abatement reports.
+ Makes court appearances on behalf of the City when assigned or required.
+ Assists City emergency response as the department's 24-hour emergency on-call representative as needed.
+ Plans, develops, directs, coordinates, organizes and controls the materials, equipment, and personnel, under jurisdiction toward the effective, efficient and economical attainment of program goals, including maximum convenience to the public and safety of employees.
+ Manages area of responsibility in strict accordance with applicable laws, regulations and established policy including union agreements to ensure fair and standardized treatment of employees.
+ Works evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
+ Performs activities and functions of related personnel and other related tasks and duties that are assigned or required.
