SummarySpire is looking to hire a Field Operations Inspector.
Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for the day-to-day activities associated with the completion of assigned new construction and replacement pipeline projects. Ensures projects meet the customers’ expectations and are completed in a timely manner in accordance with all policies and procedures. Supervises assigned new growth and replacement field contractor crews through the contractor foreman Supervises all new growth and replacement contractor/company work through the construction foremen. Responsible for the completion of all records associated with the pipeline projects Prioritize and assign projects to contractor/company crews for the installation of new and replacement mains and services and redirects resources as needed. Has the authority to make critical decisions which will impact project completion scheduling, conflicts with other utilities and work related issues concerning job safety and project management Monitors and inspects day to day activities associated with assigned service and main installations keeping appropriate groups informed of progress. Maintains permanent field notes and records of all relevant job site work. Verifies and approves contractor pay sheets for work performed. Coordinates with Construction Engineering to ensure all necessary permits are in place prior to start of project. Verifies that all right of ways and utilities are located and marked appropriately prior to Consults with System Planning to ensure appropriate gas supply will be provided to meet customers’ needs Conducts pre-project meetings with contractors, developers, local inspectors, governmental entities, etc. and serves as the company representative during meetings Complete and submits project completion reports within 30 days of actual work completion QCI qualified; Adheres to all environmental standards with all best management practices and necessary record keeping and reporting Communicates the ongoing status of pipe installations, estimates and other job-related activities with the organic growth reps, local management, supervision and other stakeholders Maintains records, project files and written communications in an organized manner to communicate effectively with supervisor, associates and other company employees. All other duties as assigned Essential Characteristics and Competencies Ability to lead by example in support of the Company’s essential characteristics and values: strong ethics and integrity, dedication to a safe work environment, commitment to a diverse workforce that recognizes and respects every individual’s unique skills and perspectives Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines Ability to adapt in a fast-moving and changing culture Strong interpersonal skills Ability to work as part of a team and display a positive attitude Strong attention to detail Supervisory Responsibilities No direct supervision on weekdays, but may be required on weekends Required Education (certifications, licenses) Requires a high school education or equivalent Valid Alabama Driver’s license Required knowledge, skill and abilities Must have a good mechanical aptitude and an understanding of general pipeline construction practices and 5 years experience in pipeline or natural gas-related work Proficient in the use of laptop, calculator, gas flow calculations, pipe horn and various meters, tools, gauges and other construction equipment Must have a thorough knowledge of all corporate policies, standards, and procedures as they relate to personnel, replacement projects, and new construction Must be thoroughly familiar with the rules and regulations of the APSC pertaining to pipeline construction as well as DOT 49CFR, Part 191 & 192 and the appropriate collective bargaining agreements Ensures all work remains in compliance with rules and regulations of company and governmental agencies Responsible for a company vehicle, all assigned equipment and for safe-guarding confidential personnel and project budgetary information Knowledge and experience with GIS, customer relations, Microsoft Office, and appropriate enterprise software are preferred Must live within thirty (30) minutes of the reporting location, as measured during normal daily traffic.
