The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.

 

Second Shift: Monday-Thursday, 3:00pm-1:00am

 

The purpose of this position is:

Provides inspection support for quality, manufacturing, and engineering.

 

This position includes significant duties such as:

Performs optical and mechanical inspection. Cleans optical components for processing/shipment. May provide coordinate measuring machine inspection. Provides supply manufacturing support to expedite workflow through departments Prepares data package for shipment of product. Trains others as needed. Supports Material Review Board activities by providing data and completing nonconformance paperwork. Complies with ISO 9002 procedures.

 

Working Conditions:

Good working conditions. Exposure to alcohol and acetone used for cleaning. Frequently lifts and/or moves items up to 5 pounds. Rarely lifts and/or moves items greater than 35 pounds without the use of lift assists.

 

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or GED required. One to three years in optical mechanical inspection with Coordinate Measuring Machine experience desired.   Experience in handling precision components. Basic blueprint reading and comprehension. Computer fluency to include MS Windows, MS Office, and other plant operating systems. Standard drawing practices, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing desired.

The range for this position is ​$18.15 hourly rate - $21.08 hourly rate.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
