Job Overview

Conducts initial and final inspection of all parts sent to the Machine Shop for repair.  Marks inspected parts and sends to appropriate department.

Key Job Responsibilities

Performs initial inspection of all parts after disassembly and mark as necessary for repairs (i.e. “weld up bore”, etc.)
Perform final inspection on all repaired parts after the machining operation.  Verify dimensions and tolerance prior to breaking mill or lathe set-up.
Inspect weld on all jobs prior to machine set up
Work with other departments on quality problems.  Refer questionable cases to Machine Shop Supervisor for decisions.
Perform daily housekeeping as required.
Perform other related duties within the department. 
Observe all safety rules.
Operate CMM for inspection.
Operate Faro Arm
Order replacement parts as needed.
Cross functional work force.

Qualifications/Requirements

Trade school or comparable work experience in Machine Shop environment. 
Familiar with Micrometers, verniers, templates;
Use basic math;
Perform metric conversions;
Perform trigonometric functions;
Read assembly, casting and machine drawings
Use micrometer, calipers, dial indicators, depth mics, feeler gauge
Proper operation of fork trucks, hoists and overhead cranes;
Operate CMM;
Operate FARO Arm;
Familiarity with PolyWorks Software;
Basic computer skills;
Knowledge of SAP desirable;
Three years’ experience in machine shop environment;
Have basic tools or willing to purchase;
Able to work any shift; Able to work overtime; Able to work weekends.
