Summary: Goldbelt CP Marine is seeking an Inspector to support the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) in Norfolk, VA. Responsibilities Essential Job Functions: Conduct field inspections and surveys for hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead-based paint, and mold, in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Collect and label samples of suspect materials and air quality pollutants for laboratory analysis according to established protocols. Assist in air quality monitoring and testing to assess the presence of airborne pollutants and contaminants. Support the preparation of reports detailing inspection findings and laboratory results, providing data on potential hazards. Ensure inspections and sampling activities comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards. Communicate inspection findings to project managers, building owners, and other stakeholders, providing recommendations for further testing or remediation as necessary. Assist with the development and implementation of remediation plans for hazardous materials under the supervision of senior staff or project managers. Maintain accurate and organized records of all inspections, sampling activities, and laboratory results. Stay informed on current regulations and best practices in hazardous materials management and air quality control. Perform other duties as needed. Qualifications Necessary Skills and Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, and the associated risks and regulations. Familiarity with relevant federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including OSHA, EPA, HUD, and AHERA standards. Experience with sampling techniques and laboratory testing procedures for hazardous materials. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to provide practical solutions to complex environmental issues. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency with environmental testing tools and software. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in diverse environments. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree At least 5 years of experience in this field including, but not limited to, performing condition assessments utilizing direct condition ratings to calculate condition indices for incorporation into Builder, performing pavement inspections utilizing Paver, and performing roof inspections and surveys.
