Job Description
The Metals Inspector is responsible for observing and monitoring the delivery of material to verify conformance to quality and quantity specifications, while ensuring that all of their efforts are compliant with the company Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. Duties may include assisting with daily production operations, as well as receiving and stockpiling of materials and products. The Metals Inspector should possess knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and other techniques required for maximizing the receipt and transfer of quality product.
ResponsibilitiesInspect shipments of scrap metal received via truck, rail car, or ship to ensure material meets specifications and is free from environmental hazards in accordance with scrap acceptance policy.Correctly identify and record inspection data such as weight, grade, content, and quantity of scrap metal.Notify operations and commercial supervisors of problems and assist in recommending remedial procedures to correct violations or issues encountered during inspection.Assist with daily production operations.Receive and stockpile materials and products.Clean and sweep the scrap metal yard.Move materials and scrap metal.Eliminate debris and waste.Perform general facility upkeep.Conducting reporting and verification of safe areas Essential SkillsKnowledge of raw materials, production processes, and techniques required for maximizing the receipt and transfer of quality product.Attention to detail.1+ year of related work experience (construction, machine shop, manufacturing, production).1 year of any type of inspection experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in general labor, production, maintenance, sorting, cleaning, and sweeping.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
The work environment includes both an inside production area and a large outdoor yard. You will be exposed to heavy machinery, moving parts, loud noises, and a dirty environment. You may work in the Joint Products department, which is slightly indoors under a structure, or in a similar outdoor environment in the yard.
