Inspector - Mechanical

Position: Inspector – Mechanical
Reporting to: Project Quality Manager

Minimum Required Qualifications Specialty: QA/QC Mechanical Inspection (HVAC, Piping, Fire Fighting) Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field Training: ISO 9001 preferred Technical Knowledge: Understanding of International Codes and references (ACI, BSI, etc.) Experience: 10+ years of proven experience in quality assurance & quality control or construction-related areas, specifically in HVAC, piping, and firefighting systems. Responsibilities / Authorities / Accountabilities

Primary Functions:

Inspect and monitor projects related to Quality Assurance and Quality Control, focusing on HVAC, piping, and firefighting systems; escalate non-compliance and violations of scope, codes, and standards. Review applicable contractual requirements, including technical standards and specifications for HVAC, piping, and firefighting systems. Review QHSE drawings, files, and plans, and validate inspection assignment documentation, ensuring compliance with specifications related to HVAC, piping, and firefighting. Execute or supervise inspections according to the predefined Project Quality Plan and established inspection procedures/techniques for HVAC, piping, and firefighting installations. Monitor equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper installation, operation, and calibration of HVAC and firefighting systems, using inspection procedures, protocols, and checklists. Prepare inspection reports, including Non-Conformities (NCRs) and other deliverables, and manage the treatment and closure of NCRs through corrective actions. Interpret results of surveys or inspections related to HVAC, piping, and firefighting systems. Adhere to security guidelines and ensure personal safety within the working environment. Coordinate with Client Representatives for handing over new Work Inspection Requests (WIR) and resolving any rejected WIRs. Initiate internal Inspection Reports (INCRs) to the construction crew for effective implementation of the project quality plan, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, written procedures, project specifications, manufacturers' recommendations, and shop drawings related to HVAC and firefighting systems. Prepare routine inspection reports and conduct meetings with the construction team to address potential issues in HVAC, piping, and firefighting systems, preventing future non-conformities. Accurately document inspection and testing results, along with relevant comments. Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for corrective action, reporting all site inspections, disqualified workmanship, and materials to the Project Quality Manager. Compile Weekly/Monthly Quality Reports, including applicable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) established for the project.
