The successful candidate will join a diverse group of educators and discipline-based education researchers dedicated to providing high-quality undergraduate biology education. The initial appointment will be for one year (9 months) with expectation of continuing renewal based on satisfactory performance. The successful candidate will serve as an Instructor/Assistant Professor for introductory biology lecture and lab courses designed to actively engage life-science majors in three-dimensional learning and will work with teams of faculty to develop curriculum for these courses. Depending on the needs of the program, the candidate may teach in cellular and molecular or organismal biology courses, work with diverse student groups to support their learning across their introductory biology courses, and may assist the lab curriculum coordinator of those courses. Required Degree Doctorate -Biological Sciences or related field Minimum Requirements An advanced degree in the biological sciences or related fields with college teaching experience (as a teaching assistant or instructor of record) or experience mentoring students through research projects is required. A PhD is required for the rank of Assistant Professor; a master’s degree is required for the rank of Instructor. Candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to creating inclusive learning environments and professional development. Desired Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with teams of instructors, curriculum development (particularly three-dimensional curricula and assessments), supervising graduate teaching assistants and undergraduate learning assistants, teaching in undergraduate laboratories that include research projects, and teaching that supports diverse learners.
